A Unique Marketing Stretegy

The Hard Days Night hotel is a unique experience, offering visitors a Beatles themed stay. Guests are treated to a variety of different Beatles memorabilia and is the main method of marketing. However, this hotel offers much more than the usual Beatles memorabilia.

One Hundred and Ten (one for each room) unique paintings were commissioned to depict the extraordinary journey of this iconic band. These painting are unique to the hotel and is another reason for paying a visit, if there isn't enough already. The paintings begin in the basement and continue throughout the hotel with smaller versions being displayed outside each room so that all visitors can follow the exhibition to the end. The one hundred and ten original paintings by Shannon shows the hotel's commitment to market itself and go the extra mile to ensure a memorable Beatles experience for its fans.

Blaze at the Hard Days Night

For many, visiting the Hard days night hotel has lead to refunds and disappointment after a fire broke out on the 14th of February. Beatles fans were hurriedly moved to the near by Marriott hotel as eight fire fighter crews arrived on scene. The cause of the fire is unknown but it is believed to have originated near the Paul McCartyney suit. As the cause of the fire is still unknown the hotel has therefore decided to close all 110 rooms until the 4th of March, although many restaurants, bars and event are still open.

This is a big blow to Hard Day's Night, not just because of the physical damage to the property but also in terms of lost sales. Closing all rooms as a precaution will undoubtedly cause revenues to fall, however this could effect customer confidence and may effect future sales. Certainly a Hard Day's Night will lose customers to its competitors over the next month which may cause further adverse effects.

A Hard Day's Night may want to look at further marketing promotions advertising new refurbished rooms or by hosting larger events when the cause of the fire is discovered and all rooms are reopened. Perhaps gaining more confidence by reiterating the differences between Hard Day's Night and its competitors and focusing on the re-modeling of the McCartney suit or The Beatles events and memorabilia. Luckily no one was harmed by the fire and the evacuation was done quickly, but for Hard Day's Night things a less certain.

Micro...(let's clear those spots and get a makeup!)

Now that we had a look at macro factors of the Hard day’s Night it’s time to get closer to the action and check those small but very important bits that build up and keep the Hotel moving in first place because we can’t forget that the world is just getting bigger when we start to think of the micro elements of a business.

Today's recession only makes it harder to keep up with the changes in competition while satisfying both consumer and employee.  This is just one big part of the micro elements we needed to look at the whole picture of the surroundings of the Hotel.

You’d never think how much business would like to ride the same waves as Hard Day Night, meaning the use of linkable celebrities, theming the venues after famous films, songs or people just in this city. This use can lead to confusion as it does with The Yellow Submarine. It supposed to suggest the song written as the theme song of the Hunt for the Red October, but it’s an accord from the Beatles written well before the film. Great confusion lies in the fact that the Yellow Submarine is also based in Liverpool, where the Hard Day’s Night hence The Beatles.

The hotel takes place in the rank of Boutique hotels UK wise The macroeconomic fact how homeland tourism changes against choosing abroad is also highly effects the microeconomic circumstances too. It produces changes in suppliers and contractors because in some ways it’s easier to ‘buy bulk’ in huge amounts as the cost spreads out. There is a promotion in marketing section that can engages further traffic leading to expansion possible planes.

And the line doesn’t stop here!!

Giving more value for the fans and a loyal attitude towards the investors is a key note to get hold of the same qualities from the other side of the business gaining trust, better communication, emerging surveys on customer satisfaction and bigger share for selling sub-products or even getting business deals with other stakeholders like transport companies, travel agencies, the Council or DMO not to mention the Hotel Supervisors.

That’s going to be the next thing we’re looking forward to get a deeper insight! Bear with us! ;)

Macro ...

There are many factors that might effect the business, Hard Days Night Hotel, many of which are macro. This means that they are outside of the business. They can be unpredictable and therefore it is hard for any business to protect themselves from such factors. However, it is possible that a business can benefit from macro factors.
Using the marketing concept of PESTLE I have identified some macro factors:
  • Economic - a main factor is the UK's current recession. This can have 2 effects on Hard Days Night due to the fact that consumers will have less disposable income as a result of inflation rising.
    1) As Hard Days Night is a hotel at heart consumers might stay at less expensive hotels such as Premier Hotels or Holiday Inn for example. They may go for value for money instead of experience.
    2) People in the UK may decide to holiday in the UK instead of abroad. This may benefit Hard Days Night as it is unique and not just your average hotel.
  • Technology - this should of benefited Hard Days Night as improvements in technology has enabled them to have online booking, key cards and a website, as well as it should have improved communication with all stake holders of the business including customers and suppliers.
  • Legal - the legal rights for Hard Days Night to use the Beatles branding is a major factor for the success of the business, obviously.
Those are just a few factors that could effect the business, there are also micro factors but that's a whole other post...

Valentines Day Approaches

Although Hard Days night provides the usual excellent service and The Beatles memorabilia it has plenty more to offer. Hard Days Night provides a variety of different packages that can be purchased in order to enrich your experience even further. These include the Magical Mystery package as well as the All You Need is Love package which provides tours around the most popular Beatles locations or even a more romantic get away for the Beatles enthusiast.

With romance in mind and valentines day approaching, the Hard Days Night hotel has developed a new package offering a luxury room with breakfast as well as a shopping and spa therapy experience. This latest addition to the variety of packages offered by Hard Days Night is aimed at couples wanting to celebrate valentines day with a bang. Couples can enjoy the Beatles scene as well as relax in the spa with their partners. Included with this is a £100 pound voucher for either Liverpool ONE, one of Liverpool's largest shopping centers,  or Cricket perfect for spoiling each other with gifts.

All Bar 4?

A potentially cheesy theme of being based around the Beatles is a major risk that the hard days night manage to do extremely well by always being there yet not being forced into your face. Although the main reasons you may at first enter the hotel may be for the memorabilia, at heart this is still a top class 4 star hotel. The well planned out combination of the two is what makes this a truly memorable experience as well as greatly attracts any Beatles fan.

If you are a fan of the Beatles, in any shape or form, you will greatly appreciate much of what the hotel has to offer. As you wander around the halls and corridors you will see pictures and items that would instantly bring you back in time to reminisce about the famous four as well as unique artwork that you will not be able to find anywhere else. The hotel bar “Bar Four” contains the original never seen before paintings by Paul Ygartua who attended Liverpool Art College with John Lennon and this first wife Cynthia Powell. These oil paintings show each of the Beatles with their own favourite instrument.

If that doesn’t entice you will be further tempted as “Bar Four” still provides an experience of luxury and offers a complete way to relax and unwind in their leather armchairs surrounded by Italian marble and wood panelled walls. This tranquil release of tension is another one of the main ways that the hotel can be used in ways other than a hotel. This attracts a strong crowd of people who simple appreciate the comfort and ambience provided by such a high class service. They may enter due to curiosity but they will stay for the indulgence

What's a hard days night?

Other than the obvious answer that it's when someone has "been working like a dog" and will be "sleeping like a dog", its is a unique hotel in Britain that is based on the very famous band The Beatles that came from Liverpool in the 1960s.

The Hotel offers the obvious services that hotels offer, such as :
Rooms, Restaurants, Bars.

Except these aren't the ordinary facilities of a hotel.
They are themed around the band. There's a McCartney suite after the famous Paul McCartney and a Lennon suite after John Lennon.

This hotel is available to anyone and everyone and that is what their target market should be, as I believe that everyone should be a Beatles fan! Even if your not, surely it would be worth going just for the experience, right?

There are many hotels that a consumer may pick over this one, however if a cheap room with a big breakfast is all that the consumer is looking for, they should pick 'The Holiday Inn' or 'Premier Hotel'. If they are looking at being surrounded by The Beatles memorabilia in Britain, a Hard Days Night is the place.
